The Network of African
Peace-builders (NAPS) was established in 2001
with the objective to promote the science and
practice of peace building through the exchange
of knowledge and sharing experiences amongst
individuals working towards sustainable peace in
Africa and to contribute to conflict prevention
and peace building in Southern Africa, East
Africa, the Horn of Africa and W-Africa. The
network was established against the background
of Peace building dialogue seminars which were
implemented by the Austrian Study Center for
Peace and Conflict Resolution (ASPR) with
African partner organisations and funded by the
Austrian Development Co-operation Programme,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
